The Youth Team Celebrate their Victory
Penn & Tylers Green Youth Team triumphed over their local rivals Widmer End in the 2010 League Cup played at Burnham FC.
The match was keenly contested with Penn showing the more adventurous play in the first half, resulting in a 2-0 advantage at the break. Widmer End pressed hard early in the second half and pulled one back with 30 minutes on the clock. Matt Thomas (scorer of Penn’s two goals) suffered a serious injury shortly afterwards requiring an ambulance and a 45 minute break in the match. With 18 minites left at the restart both teams had their chances with Widmer, hitting the bar, coming close to an equaliser. The final whistle blew with Penn running out 2-1 winners and deservedly retaining the League Cup.
