Thame Youth   2 – 3 Penn Rangers

That’s more like it. With several players away playing hockey we had to shuffle the pack. Tom Poulton and Connor moved into the central midfield positions in a 4-4-2 formation. The passing and the movement was excellent at times and we carved out chance after chance. However, we had just the one goal to show for it by the interval. A great finish from Will who was paired up top with Ed.
There were excellent performances right across the pitch today. We went 2 up after an hour by way of an own goal which was the result of a strong challenge from George. Unfortunately the boys took their foot off the gas for a 10 to 15 minute period and before they knew what had happened the scores were level. It was to their great credit that they were able to step it up again and get that winner with just a couple of minutes to go. It was a superbly taken finish from man of the match Will who must be rather enjoying this striking business. It was not just the goals that earned him man of the match. He worked very hard from start to finish and posed a real threat throughout the game. He just pipped Rory for that accolade. Rory also had a terrific game and never stopped working.

That is a great result and will go some way to putting our season back on track. Thame were arguably the strongest team we have met in the league this season and that makes it an even more satisfying result. They are easily the top scorers in the division and were sitting at the top of the league before today’s match (and indeed still are despite this game).

Lastly a word for Charlie making his debut in goal. Excellent effort and very vocal too which is great. A job very well done all round.
