On a mild evening at French School Meadows we welcomed our near neighbours from across the Chilterns in our local derby with Chalfont Wasps. This is always a highly anticipated game and usually a tough battle. So tonight we were delighted with a good win and three points.
Penn and Tylers Green Reserves made it two wins on the bounce and seem to have found the winning mentaltiy going into the most important phase of the season. With two cup quarter finals looming and a potential top 4 position to play for they will hope to keep on winning. On a typically uneven Chinnor pitch, it was clear from the start that it was going to be a bit of a struggle to keep the ball on the deck. With this in mind, Penn were instructed to keep “tippy tappy” stuff to the minimum and get the ball in behind the Chinnor defence. For some reason, unlike the Holyport game the week before Penn couldn’t find their rhythm for large spells of the game.

PTGFC win 2-1 on Penalties
John Terry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Baggio, David Trezeguet, Chris Waddle, Stuart Pearce, even David Batty….were you watching, Aimee Buchorski and Megan Stokes powered in two well struck penalties, which combined with heroics from keeper Emma Runevad saw Penn & Tylers Green u12 Girls win a tense Bucks Girls Football League Cup Semi-Final against Bourne End 2-1 after sudden death penalties. The girls’ reward is a trip to Stadium MK (home of the MK Dons!) for the final against Chesham United on 1st May.
The Mighty R’s will be playing div 1 football next season, after a 3-0 win over promotion chasing rivals, Pinner. Rangers went into this fixture, top of the table but with just a point separating them from Pinner in second spot & an inform Wendover making ground in third place. Rangers were plagued with injuries & illness on their away visit to Pinner receiving a 6-3 thumping, so there were two reasons to put in a convincing performance today.
The afternoon kick of posed a great game of football and didn’t disappoint. The sun was bright on a hard pitch promising an unpredictable game. Penn & Tylers Green FC travelled down to APBS in search of victory following the disappointing loss against the Aylesbury side just two weeks previous on home soil.
Hellenic Supplementary Challenge Cup
It was not to be. After a second pairing with a Premier Division side in two Saturdays Penn & Tylers Green FC did not have the luck they deserved and narrowly lost 0-1 against Thame United in a relatively even contest. The first bit of bad news came after the warm up with James Louison aggravating a groin injury ruling him out of this tie. Ben Platt took his place in the starting lineup and did very well.
Penn and Tylers Green Reserves got back to winning ways after an excellent second half performance on a glorious spring day at Holyport. The team turned up in a buoyant mood and the dressing room was buzzing right from arrival and there was a feeling that the reserves were going to pick up 3 points on the road.
On a cool day with a drying pitch Penn and Tylers Green entertained Chalfont St Peter. After having drawn away at Chalfont and showing improved form in recent matches, Penn & Tylers Green were full of confidence, although missing two regular players in Luke Cohen and Luke Graham.
Hellenic League Supplementary Cup
Round 2
The sun was out for this Hellenic League Supplementary Cup game between Penn & Tylers Green and Fairford Town. The weather had drawn a magnificent 43 fans to French School Meadows and an enthralling game was to follow. On paper it looked as if Penn would be up against it with Fairford Town being an Hellenic Premier Division. However with only two league wins to their name this season Fairford were there to be beaten.
Newbury greet the Penn team
The day started well for the first team as we boarded the bus, with Andreas once again behind the wheel, and we actually got the radio working! Penn arrived in Newbury with the sun shining and the pitch in good condition at this excellent facility, and with Newbury lying second in the table, Penn new they were in for a tough game, but with our recent good form behind us, and air of optimism prevailed.
