U12 Girls up to third!
Posted: March 13th, 2011 by FergusPTGFC U12 Girls 6 – 0 Marlow United
Penn & Tylers Green u12 Girls moved up to third place in the Bucks Girls Football League on Saturday with a 6-0 victory over Marlow United. Taking advantage of some rare spring sunshine at Sir William Ramsay School the girls were grateful for a full squad enabling the team to take some well earned breathers in the balmy conditions.
Marlow are always tough opponents and the sides were very evenly matched in the early exchanges with Marlow pressing Penn high up the pitch. The girls struggled at first to break down the Marlow defensive line but Caitlyn’s first goal, coming from a fast break down the wing, showed the girls the best tactics and Penn gradually gained controlled. Caitlyn was again in clinical form scoring four goals with two coming from long range finishes from especially acute angles, and Kate continued her recent run of goal scoring form with another two goals. As ever the girls competed very well and worked extremely hard for each other.
It was great to see Emma and Aimee keep a combined clean sheet with some great support from Mills and Niamh in defence. Caitlyn was well supported up front by Megan who stretched the home defence, with the midfield trio of new signing Lisa, Rhiannon and Lara in their normal combative form. The girls may yet convince the coach that they do pay attention at training. Thanks as ever to Damo and his girls for a good match.
The girls are looking forward to their Cup Semi-Final in two weeks time against Bourne End Juniors.”
