PTGFC U12 Girls - League Cup Runners Up
The u12 girls put in a performance to be proud of in the Bucks Girls Football League Cup Final despite ending up on the wrong end of a 3-0 nil score line against an excellent Chesham United team. A large pitch and the hot weather ensured that the game was very open with a number of chances at either end. Penn were unfortunate in the first half in particular when two excellent cross shots from Caitlyn narrowly missed both the goal and the onrushing Lisa at the far post. However, Chesham’s excellent passing game and an unfortunate ricochet saw them take a 2-0 lead at half time.
Penn pushed hard in the second half to reduce the deficit and with the game becoming more stretched Emma was forced into a couple of excellent saves. Chesham’s third which again came from another equally unfortunate ricochet really put the match beyond Penn but the girls battled bravely until the final whistle.
The finals day was held at Chesham United and we thank the Bucks Girls Football League and Chesham United for putting on such a special day for the girls. Ellen White (Arsenal and England Ladies) presented the trophy to Chesham and medals to the deserving girls from both sides.
I would also like to thank Vanessa Morton for her hard work over the last couple of weeks, Cathy Sturrock for organising the shirts and constant support of the girls section and Nigel Bowen, together with all the Mums, Dads, siblings and friends for all their vocal support.
But most of all a big well done to all the girls for becoming the first Penn girls team to reach the Cup Final – Emma Runevad, Mills Hayes, Aimee Buchorski, Lara Morton, Kate Lees, Rhiannon Lawson, Megan Stokes, Niamh Potts, Caitlyn Haselgrove and Lisa Gascoyne.
