Penn & Tylers Green 3 – 3 Maidenhead United Reserves

Maidenhead were the visitors to French School Meadows today and they played out a six goal thriller. Penn went in to the game unbeaten in two however they knew it wouldn’t be a walkover.

The first chance of the game came in the 5th minute when Maidenhead’s Adeyinka Adeniji’s shot was well saved by Matt Cannings in the Penn goal. Maidenhead looked threatening early on but the breakthrough came from the home side. A dangerous free kick was swung into the box by Chris Hurst, it was cleared only as far as Rino Sepede who’s deflected shot found its way into the bottom corner. 1 – 0.

Didcot Town Reserves 0 – 0 PTGFC

Penn travelled to Didcot Town Reserves on Tuesday evening for a league game and following a good solid start to the season they were looking to add to their points tally and bring home all three points,but had to settle in the end for a point.

Abingdon United Reserves take all points on their first visit to Penn

Penn entertained Abingdon United Reserves, whose first team play in the Southern League S&W, and it was not to be a happy night for PTGFC as Abingdon, based on their dominant first half display, deservedly took all three points back to Oxfordshire.

Penn started slowly and Abingdon took the lead after three minutes when they launched a quick decisive move down the left flank and whipped in a low cross which was clinically despatched into the back of the Penn net. Wake up call? No! Penn proceeded to give the ball away and struggled to put any passing moves together through lack of communication or otherwise. Penn seemed to be waiting for things to happen instead of anticipating outcomes, and consequently when opportunities did arise we were too slow to react, which happened all too often.

Great start to the season

Rino celebrates the season's opener

A new Penn & Tylers Green FC took on the newly promoted Lambourn Sports FC.

The visitors started at a good pace very eagerly and keen, which was expected. But Penn & Tylers Green FC worked well when Antonio Sepede flicked the ball on and a Wayne Booth header resulted in the vibrant Rino Sepede scoring early on, probably the fastest goal in the league today.

Penn & Tylers Green FC settled down and played well for the next 15 minutes then came a sucker punch from Lambourn Sports FC. The ball was picked up 25 yards Penn & Tylers Green FC did not react and an excellent strike resulted in an equaliser for the visitors.

LEAGUE CAMPAIGN STARTS THIS SATURDAY

Penn & Tylers Green First Team entertain newcomers & champions from the North Berks League Lambourn Sports in their first league match of the new season this Saturday the 13th (No superstitious paranoia

please) at French School Meadow Kick-Off 3pm.

Chairman Tony Hurst commented:

”Although some of the actual results in the friendly games appear to say otherwise, this had been a good, productive, hard pre –season for new manager John Sepede’s new look team, with good new young blood coming in to the club and so the team has been evolving as the new players have been brought into the various line-ups to gel with the established players, against some strong opposition. Training sessions have been well attended and the attitude and commitment of managers, coaches, players and staff has been fantastic.

A game of two halves!!!!!!!

Penn & Tylers Green FC Reserves 2 – 2  Walters Leisure FC

This was a game of two halves. One set of eleven players played the first half and a completely different eleven came onto the second half. The first half started well and Penn & Tylers Green FC made all the running and although a good goal from Dean Munday put the Reserves ahead the performance deteriorated more.

Nothing Holy Today!

Penn & Tylers Green 1 – 6  Holyport FC

This was a tough test for Penn & Tylers Green this afternoon. Holyport who won promotion from Division One (East) last season looked very much like a Premier Division Team. They were sharp, strong and quick.

Penn & Tylers Green FC battled and never gave up but today we came up against a better side. It was a good test and no one let he side down and there were still lots of positive aspect in the game. It was just one of those days.

Good afternoon for the Reserves

Penn & Tylers Green FC 3 – 0  Hazlemere

The game went at a fair pace with Penn & Tylers Green FC having more of the ball but Hazlemere had the best chance early on when they had a free header just over the bar.

That seemed to inspire Penn & Tylers Green FC and it was not long until a good interchange of passes saw Tim Collins break down the right. His cross was met by Adam Weedon, just checking inside and finishing superbly into the top corner.

‘A’ Team Strengthened

Tony Hurst welcomes Alan Craven aboard

Chairman Tony Hurst is delighted to announce the appointment of Alan Craven as the new Manager for Penn & Tylers Green FC’s third team.

This will give the team more stability and will allow Player Coaches Rob Chappell and Ricky Wood to focus on matters on the pitch whilst playing on Saturdays.

We wish Alan all the best for the forthcoming season.
