Bourne End 2 – 6 Penn & Tylers Green FC

Bourne End entertained Penn & Tylers Green FC Youth Team this morning in the opening game of the season. There was a torrential downpour throughout the game making the conditions difficult from the start.

Penn & Tylers Green FC Youth Team started off lively and were keeping possession of the ball well but not making any clear cut chances. The wings were where most of the action was being played with Will Brangwin and Fabio Battista proving to be a real handful. But although Penn & Tylers Green FC Youth Team were looking more likely to score, a Bourne End corner wasn’t dealt with and their striker headed home at the near post past Conor Latta. Penn & Tylers Green FC Youth Team heads didn’t drop and five minutes later, a nice passing move involving Curtis Stone and Luke Cohen led to Tony Quigley finishing well into the bottom corner.

Centre backs Ben Heathers and Patrick Blunt were coping well with anything being thrown at them with some great tackles and clearing headers. A few minutes before Half Time, good work down the wing by Alex Morgan and Fabio Battista resulted in a cross which Luke Cohen dived full length to head the ball into the bottom corner. Half Time followed with Penn & Tylers Green FC Youth Team in high spirits and looking to increase their lead.

Penn & Tylers Green FC Youth Team came out expecting Bourne End to pile on the pressure but the opposite happened when a clearance from a corner ended up with a well taken goal by Fabio Battista after some nice play by Tony Quigley and Luke Cohen. Minutes later a free kick was awarded to Penn & Tylers Green FC Youth Team after the hard-working Ross Brace was fouled. Tony Quigley stepped up and hammered a shot into the bottom corner from long range.

Will Brangwin was taken off and replaced by Charlie Sheen who was linking well with Charlie Whitfield. Bourne End continued to put pressure on but to no avail as the Penn & Tylers Green FC Youth Team defence was coping well with anything thrown at them. A long ball by Ben Heathers caused a horrific back pass by the Bourne End left back and Fabio Battista nipped in and scored his second. Curtis Stone and Ross Brace were winning tackles all over the pitch and distributed well all game.

Penn & Tylers Green FC Youth Team’s sixth goal came when good work on the wing by Ross Brace resulted in Alex Morgan putting in a cross and Charlie Sheen nodded home. Ross Brace was taken off for Ben Blackmore and Enaam Hussain replaced Fabio Battista. Bourne End now started to pile on even more pressure but the back four continued to deal well with the sustained pressure. Penn & Tylers Green FC Youth Team were starting to tire and lose their shape but after the back 4 were told to push up, a long ball over the top were finished well past the oncoming Conor Latta. More pressure came but Patrick Blunt, Ben Heathers, Charlie Whitfield and Alex Morgan were dealing with it well.

The full time whistle blew and capped a great start to the season for the Penn & Tylers Green FC Youth Team.
