Last game of the season ended in a draw at French School Meadows

Penn & Tylers Green FC 2 – Letcombe 2

This had end of season game written all over it. The sharpness of last week’s game was never quite there. Letcombe played well and looked like they wanted it more. They were sharper in their tackles and always got to any lose ball first. This did not mean that we did not have any chances but there were only a few of them.

Lining up against Letcombe

On a windy but sunny afternoon (will they ever get the forecast right?) is was not easy for either team to get the ball down and play some passing football. As I said at the beginning, this was a typical end of season game. No surprise then, that at half time is was all square with no goals in the match.

The second half at least had goals in it. The first one came for Penn & Tylers Green FC when Liam Ratcliffe, who came on for Sam Appleby in the second half, cut inside and let fly from the edge of the box. This was a very good gaol. Continue reading…

Hungerford Town FC Reserves 0 – Penn & Tylers Green FC 1

Americans remember the Alamo, and the British remember Rorke’s Drift, a South African outpost where 120 Welsh soldiers fought a pitched battle against 4,000 Zulu warriors in 1879. Penn & Tylers Green FC will remember the game at Hungerford Reserves for a long time. Continue reading…

Possible Cup Hat Trick?

Under 16s looking for Cup success

Under 15s looking for Cup success

Penn & Tylers Green FC is very proud of the fact that they have three teams in the League Cup Finals this season. This may well be a first and with two more teams narrowly missing out in the Semi-Finals (Under 15s Rangers and Under 11s) it was close to being five. We wish them luck and hope to be reporting good news after the finals. I hope anyone associated with Penn & Tylers Green FC will find the time to go along to the finals and support the teams.

Highmoor Ibis FC 3 – Penn & Tylers Green FC 2

Palmer Park Stadium is located in Palmer Park, Reading. It contains a velodrome and athletics stadium. Set in acres of parkland, the stadium provides a focal point for a variety of indoor and outdoor leisure activities. The velodrome was originally built at the turn of the 20th century, making it one of the oldest in the country. This was the venue Penn & Tylers Green FC played against the league leaders this afternoon. Continue reading…

Another Semi Final Win

Penn & Tylers Green FC Under 13s achieved another milestone by reaching the League Cup Final. After winning the Berks & Bucks County Cup last weekend another cup final beckons. Well done yet again to the boys and management of the Under 13s.

Under 9s season ends on a high!

Now for the Cup Final

Penn & Tylers Green FC Under 9s finished off the league games with another gutsy performance against a well organised and good Holtspur team. In lovely March sunshine the boys finished off their league games winning the first two games 1-0, drawing 0-0 and going down 1-3. Again, both teams worked really hard and with each game they are showing they are learning from training and taking this into the playing environment. It has been a great season and the boys have got into a great habit of winning games and not giving up showing fantastic team spirit. Well done on an excellent season and keep working in training and enjoy the Cup Final.

Under 13s County Cup Final Match Report

Posted: March 23rd, 2012 by Andreas

Success, the Under 13s have won the county cup!!!!

Penn & Tylers Green FC – Windsor Youth FC 2:0 (after extra time)

A great battling performance last Sunday saw us get the reward for all our hard work through the season in lifting the county cup. The venue was Aylesbury F.C. with a kick off time of 2pm. A big thanks to the officials from Aylesbury F.C. and the county officials who made the afternoon a pleasant one.

The Winners - Under 13s

The game was played on a pitch that was not conducive to playing passing football as it was very uneven and bobbly. Consequently I think both teams struggled to show there footballing abilities on the day which was a shame given that I think all the boys would have wanted to show off there talent in the final. Even before the match started we had a small scare in the warm up with Alex Colvered our top scorer suffering from some slight discomfort in his hamstring. Continue reading…

Cup Final for the Under 9s

Penn & Tylers Green FC U9s reach the Cup Final!!!

Penn & Tylers Green FC U9s reached the Cup Final after beating a very good Downley team in a topsy turvy tie in the rain at Downley. Every one of the players excelled and showed great belief and a fighting spirit to turn around a 4-0 loss & a 1-1 draw to win the next two games 4-0 and 3-1.

Darren looks cool

The boys have been showing great team spirit lately and have not let their heads go down after losing the first games and Saturday was another fine example of this. It led to great scenes at the end of the games and made all the coaches and parents proud of all the players. Well done and keep up the hard work in training.

U12 s promotion secured

Posted: March 20th, 2012 by Andreas

Promotion Squad

It has been hard work but the boys have done really well

In all the games we have played so far we have only lost one game and drawn twice, last weekend we played Aylesbury Town away and were 1-0 down within ten minutes but the boys fought really well and came back and made it 1-1. They then went in front 2-1 for Aylesbury to sink one in just before the final whistle making it 2-2. This was a tough game as both teams are fighting for first place in the league, we are currently sitting in first place but the next two games are crucial. We are home to Aylesbury again in a couple of weeks so preparing the boys for a hard game, with courage, strength, skills dedication and fantastic support from all our supporters we are aiming high to stay in top place!! Well done to all the boys who play for Penn & Tylers Green Under 12′s. Keep working as a team and we can aim higher next season!!!

Looking forward to next season and our aim is tough training hard work and pure dedication to get that promotion again, fingers crossed!!!!

DICKSON REVELS AGAINST THE REBELS

When I woke up to the sun coming through my curtains this morning my Managers hat went on and straight to work and my first decision was to decide on tracksuit bottoms or shorts.

Ryan Dickson

My first decision was right in choosing the “trackie bottoms” – it was freezing! A wry smile came across my face when I saw Tango dressed in shorts and moaning how cold he was!!

As for my next decision, my thought process changed slightly after hearing the news last night about Fabrice Muamba who is fighting for his life after collapsing on the pitch last night during the Bolton v Tottenham game. We all wish him well in his fight for recovery. Continue reading…
