During the Middle Ages the Rayners Lane road was used for transporting grain to the mill on Pinner Green. Well at present times there was evidence of tons of sand being transported during the week to make the pitch playable. To be fair the men at Rayners Lane worked very hard to get the game on but the playing surface is definitely suffering.

On a very windy afternoon Penn & Tylers Green FC went to The Tithe Farm Social Club with reasonable optimism after the last two good performances in the league. The game started off with the boys in blue and white pressing forward slightly having more of the game. The First Team played well at the Valley of the Race Horse

Lambourn Sports 1 – Penn & Tylers Green FC 1

The village of Lambourn is located near the source of the river Lambourn on the beautiful chalk downlands of England. The village is famous for its association with the training of the world’s finest race horses.

Skipper leads out the team

There are over 2000 horses in training in the Lambourn valley with over 50 Racing Yards. The boys were not really interested in this as there was a football match to be contested. It was not to be!!!

On a bright and fresh afternoon on an excellent pitch Penn & Tylers Green FC and Thatcham Town Reserves, incidentally the only two teams to beat Newbury this season, played out an exciting 0:0 draw.

Action at French School Meadows

Our visitors from The Colthrop Board Mills (closed down in 2000), where paper had been produced for over 200 years played in their Red, black and yellow away kit today. They normally play in the same colours as Penn & Tylers Green FC.

The first half saw a slight territorial advantage for our visitors from Thatcham but this was not turned into anything tangible with Matt Cannings having to save only once from close range. Penn & Tylers Green FC were a little bit too passive and despite creating a few openings with Rino Sepede working hard as the lone striker today, there was just not enough agility in midfield for the majority of the first half. Frustration at Chinnor

An early dangerous free kick from Aiden Taylor, which is well saved, is followed by the 1:0 to Chinnor after three minutes due to poor defending. The cross came from the right side and a header from six yards caused the damage. Not a good start.

Not our day today

Game did not settled early on with Chinnor breaking up play well. After a free kick to Chinnor in a dangerous position Matt Cannings holds on to the ball well. Now Penn & Tylers Green FC started to dominate the game.

Good work down the right for Penn & Tylers Green FC, Chris Hurst’s header across goal just goes wide. In the next attack Gary Crick gets in behind the Chinnor defence to the by line but the ball goes all the way across goal. It is all Penn & Tylers Green FC. Another Unnecessary Defeat!

Penn & Tylers Green FC 1 – Rayners Lane FC 2

On a mild afternoon a day after Boxing Day Penn & Tylers Green FC entertained Rayners Lane, our friends from Middlesex. Before this afternoon’s game only one point and one place in the table separated both teams from each other.

On top early on

A good festive crowd of 57 including a few supporters from Rayners Lane provided the right atmosphere in this closely fought but fair encounter, which was refereed excellently by the match official Neil Morrison.

Penn & Tylers Green FC had the better start playing up the slope and taking the lead after 15 minutes when Jamie Hunt’s header from Aiden Taylor’s corner beat the Rayners Lane defence and goal keeper. In the first 30 to 35 minutes Rayners Lane had a couple of chances with Matt Cannings making a good saves but overall their passing and shooting was not troubling the boys in blue & white a great deal. In that period Penn & Tylers Green FC should have extended the league but attempts from Rino Sepede and Owen Hunte-Millington only just missed the target.

This is our 2nd league defeat in a row. Against a strong but not unbeatable Newbury Town FC side we played Father Christmas today by gifting three goals to the opposition today. To be fair to them they took their chances and we did not and thus they deserved to win the game. They are a good side.

On a cold frosty afternoon with the frost never disappearing from the hedge end of the ground the pitch still played well and the spectators saw a good competitive game. Just to say thing straight at the beginning: There was an assessor there today but it did not influence the official a single bit, Steve Dolton had an excellent game.

On a cold night, which made it compulsory to indulge in the trademarked name of a thick, salty meat extract, developed in the 1870s by John Lawson Johnston and sold in a distinctive, bulbous jar, Penn & Tylers Green FC took on Burnham FC in the Wycombe Senior Cup last night at The Gore.

Man of the match

A strong Burnham FC side were taken to extra time by a very well organised and superbly battling Penn & Tylers Green FC. The boys coped well with the early exchanges and deservedly went ahead on 21 minutes with a Sepede Double Act when Rino was put through superbly by his brother Antonio then taking advantage of Burnham defending too high up the field. Rino spotted Burnham’s keeper Jordan Dawson off his line and lobbed the ball over him into the net. This was a neat and typical Rino Sepede finish. Burnham FC, who play two divisions above Penn & Tylers Green FC, tried to put their authority onto the game but the boys playing in their red & black away kit tonight battled hard and played some very good football. Liam Ratcliffe always looked dangerous with James Louison and Chris Hurst creating chances for Penn & Tylers Green FC. The boys kept their shape and deservedly went into the half time break 1-0 up. No luck at Finchampstead

This contest between the hosts and top of the table Penn & Tylers Green FC started off brightly and improved throughout the game culminating in an interesting battle of the end game. Finches were without Captain Adam Barnard, absent because of work. Sam Green sported the captain’s arm-band and had an early task when a high lob up the middle of the field had to be dealt with, which he headed out conceding a corner kick to Penn & Tylers Green FC. After the ball rattled round the goal mouth, Stuart Manicom headed the ball off the goal-line much to the relief of his team-mates. heavy defeat at their ground 2 weeks ago, and, from a route one high goal-keeper’s clearance kick, Rino Sepede put the ball easily over the top of Neil Griffith’s cross-bar. As Penn & Tylers Green FC gained ground in the next wave, Sam Walters sent a useful cross that Liam Ratcliffe headed in off the inside of the far post in the 10th minute. Finches responded to the early score by the visitors by taking the ball forward but Penn & Tylers Green FC players had other ideas and headed goalwards gaining a free kick which came to nothing.

Finches then worked their way down the flank but were repelled and Penn & Tylers Green FC forwards sent the ball into the 6 yard box as Sam Walters hammer-headed the ball, forcing a truly spectacular save from Neil Griffiths. The following attack by Penn & Tylers Green FC was cleared easily by Finches who then gained ground.
