U15s – “Moore” Title Celebrations

Posted: May 25th, 2011 by Fergus

Player of the Match - Rousel Moore

Beaconsfield 0 – 6 PTGFC U15

They deemed this day “Destination Sunday” in the football world and so it proved for the Booker Wholesale League Division 2. After a long hard season the depleted Penn team turned up at a windy Farnham Park to play Beaconsfield, who held us to a 0 – 0 draw earlier in the season. With the news filtering through teletext (OK, my phone) some 30 minutes prior to kick off that Burnham had lost 2 – 0 at home to Thame Boys we knew that a win today would secure us the Division 2 title.

Summerbell Double Securs Promotion

Player of the Match - Tom Summerbell

Amersham Athletic 1 – 2 Penn & Tylers Green U15

A Thursday evening with the sun shining, the wind blowing and the pitch rock hard one could have been forgiven for assuming this was a pre-season friendly game and not a promotion decider between 2 teams who would grace Division 1. Penn arrived in the usual dribs and drabs with tales of their past few days in the real world (they were all on work experience and struggling to deal with an 8 hour day) and proceeded to warm up as if this was a Tuesday night training session until cone marker superiare, Stuart Rarity, got them focused on the job in hand.

Big improvement for Under 12 Rangers

Posted: May 8th, 2011 by Fergus

Matthew Hudson - Player of the Match

Harefirld United 4 – 3 PTGFC U12 Rangers

A great effort from the boys today. Especially considering we lost 1-6 at home to Harefield a few weeks ago. We conceded less goals and we scored more goals. An all round improvement. Eventual man of the match winner Matthew played in goal. Covering for Jack who had sprained his thumb. Big kicks, diving saves and total dominance of his own 18 yard area. Very good. Jack moved into a flat back four. Joining Alex, Callum Brown and George Tuck. Alex controlled the play in this area. Again dominating the central zone and reading the game well. George closed down too. Much sharper today. Callum Brown did a lot of running. As always, he smiled a lot too.

Under 12s League Cup Final

Posted: May 3rd, 2011 by Fergus

A Game of two Halves

PTGFC U12 6 – 2 Holtspur U12

PTGFC U12 - League Cup Winners 2011

Oliver White (16, 31)
Martin Lancaster (43)
James Lawton (51)
Alex Colverd (54)
Sam Sanders (59)

Once again Penn made it through to the League Cup Final, facing Holtspur, the team that had won the League Cup against us the previous season in the Under 11’s. The pitch was dry and dusty, but the weather was clear and still relatively warm despite the occasional gust of wind, conditions that allowed Penn to start comfortably pushing forward and having a couple of early chances to test the Holtspur goal keeper. Unfortunately disaster struck when a long ball was punted forward and our defence failed to clear, leaving a two against one on the Penn keeper and Holtspur one nil up after only 8 minutes.

Mighty Rs crowned Champions!

Posted: April 3rd, 2011 by Fergus

The Mighty Rangers U14 became div 2 Champions today after Marlow pulled out of this weekends fixture, unable to field enough players.

Rangers were promoted last week with 24 points from 10 games & were looking for one more win from their last two fixtures to see them crowned div 2 champions but will instead pick up the points, after Marlow failed to fulfill the fixture today. Not the way Rangers want to win the title but after achieving back to back promotions & the results to show, the squad doesn’t need to justify their position at the summit of div 2. Rangers will now join their “sister” team next season, writing history for Penn & Tylers Green FC, having two teams in the top division for the first time & possibly a first in league history too.

Division 1 Here We Come!

Posted: March 27th, 2011 by Fergus

Penn Rangers U14   3 – 0   Pinner U14

The Mighty R’s will be playing div 1 football next season, after a 3-0 win over promotion chasing rivals, Pinner. Rangers went into this fixture, top of the table but with just a point separating them from Pinner in second spot & an inform Wendover making ground in third place. Rangers were plagued with injuries & illness on their away visit to Pinner receiving a 6-3 thumping, so there were two reasons to put in a convincing performance today.

Delayed start draws stalemate

Penn Rangers Under 12s  2  -  2  Wendover Junior Colts

Bradding, Waterhouse
Weather | Cold, dry frosty

A slight delay due to a hard frost resulted in a 09:50 KO, 20 minutes later than planned. After swapping ends Penn kicked off the first half. This was an equally balanced match with both sides having plenty of the attacking momentum.

U11s come back to steal 11 goal thriller!

Posted: November 22nd, 2010 by Fergus

Bourne End 5 – 6  Penn and Tylers Green

The U11s came back to win a remarkable end to end game and move up to 3rd in the table.   Playing 4-4-2 and up the slope at Bourne End,  the team quickly got into their rythym and went 2 goals up with a flowing moving tucked away by Dan Pocock and a neat finish by Rhys Drysdale. Despite Bourne End hitting back we went into a 3-1 half time lead following a good and run and finish to Harry Taylor.
