Development Team Reach Cup Final

Great achievement at French School Meadow

Semi Final vs Wantage.jpg

Gaffer Nigel Miller with his coaches Matt Flint and Lee Sturgeon were very happy this afternoon after reaching the final of the Chairman’s Challenge Cup Final. In a tight game against Wantage Town Development the boys in blue & white deservedly had the upper hand in the end. The opposition certainly made sure that it was a competitive game befitting for a cup semi-final.

The first half definitely belonged to the home side with some good flowing football. There were enough chances including hitting the woodwork and number of good saves by the excellent opposition keeper Harry Whitehead. Would the home side rue the near misses with changing ends at 0:0 at half time?

Well it looked like it because the visitors certainly had the better start in the second half and they were on top for about 20 minutes. It was in that period when they went 1:0 up after a free kick.

Penn & Tylers Green FC did not panic, their heads did not drop and the answer came relatively quickly after this set back. Danny Jordan tapped in the equaliser after a good volley from Josh Briant in 60th minute. 15 minutes later Andrew Viney put the boys from French Scholl Meadow ahead with a fine goal and Conor Remsbury-Kelly made the game save in the last minute with another fine goal. To reach a cup final in his first season in charge is a terrific achievement for the manager and his team.

The final is scheduled for 30th April 2019, 18:45 at Chinnor vs Bourton Rovers.

Team: R Lockey, C Flint, D Gray, L Belson (C), N Sethi, A Cairns, D Sharp, J George, A Viney (1), Konnor Saunders, Danny Jordan (1). Substitutes: C Remsbury-Kelly (1), C Stotter, J Briant (all played), S Waite, N Miller.
