Penn Win Local Derby

The First Team of Penn & Tylers Green FC comfortably won the bragging rights in the local derby against local rivals Chalfont Wasps FC last Saturday and boosted their goal difference with a resounding 4-0 victory at The Crossleys, Chalfont St. Giles. Penn welcomed debutant Mitchel Woodward, a recent signing from Flackwell Heath into the side at right back.

Chris Hurst set the ball rolling in the 8th minute to alleviate any Penn nerves when he latched onto a defensive error on the edge of the Chalfont box and calmly slotted home from eight yards low to the goalkeepers left hand and into the corner of the net. Penn continued to dominate proceedings with George Weller and Danny Jordan setting up numerous forays behind the Chalfont backline for Casey Bocarro and Jamie West to test the Chalfont defence who were defending valiantly at times.

In the 30th minute Chalfont probably lost any hope of getting back into the game when their lively centre forward Ryan Welsh was sent off for violent conduct after an altercation with Penn’s Bradley Holland. In the 33rd minute Penn took advantage of the numerical advantage and were rewarded for their persistence when a through ball from George Weller released Chris Hurst who proceeded into the Chalfont penalty area where he was unceremoniously bundled to the floor from behind for an undisputed penalty. Up stepped a confident Danny Jordan to firmly despatch the ball to the left of the Chalfont goalkeeper and the ball nestled into the corner of the net. Half time came with Penn leading 2-0.

The second half was only five minutes old when Chalfont had a chance to get back into the game but they shot narrowly wide. This was a warning to Penn which was heeded as they proceeded to carry on where they left off in the first half and once again took control of the game.

On 66 minutes Penn effectively put the game to bed when after a rather muddled exchange of passes and blocked shots in the Chalfont penalty area the ball fell to Adam Harman who made no mistake from 7 yards to put Penn 3-0 up and into cruise mode. The chances continued to come for Penn and on 70 minutes Casey Bocarro played in Jamie West who raced onto the ball and finished a fine move to ram the ball past the onrushing Chalfont keeper. Penn played out the remaining 20 minutes with ease to record their third win in a row and move to the top of the table above Bicester Town.

Next up its our old friends from Chinnor at home next week, kick off 3pm.
