This was another solid display by the boys from French School Meadow. They deservedly beat a hardworking Holyport FC 3:0 in this afternoon’s Uhlsport Hellenic League – Division One (East) encounter. The game started exactly as the doctor ordered. The home side were one nil up after three minutes with a well taken penalty by George Weller. The home side stayed on top with the visitors threating occasionally from free kicks and corners. The second gaol was provided by Casey Bocarro in 17th minute after a slick move down the right-hand side. With this comfortable lead the half time tea, no doubt, went down well.

The second half on a sunny August afternoon followed the pattern of the first half. The visitors never gave up and put in a shift but the home side remained on top. The only bit of danger in half two resulted from a Holyport FC free kick, when the ball was floated in from the left-hand side just outside the box and the ball subsequently being headed against the upright. The only justified criticism of today would be the chances missed. George Weller, Danny Jordan, Joshua Fox and Fred Trip came close with the latter hitting the cross bar.

The game was finally made safe when George Weller got his brace in 55th minute after an excellent move involving a number of players in blue & white. This one was pleasing on the eye and the decent crowd liked that one, too. The local punters where happy with today’s proceedings when referee James Field, who had a good game, blew his whistle for the final time this afternoon.

Team: Josh Cockerill, Bradley Holland, Joshua Fox, Zac Martin, James-Jardine Lofthouse-Smith, Adam Davis (C), Danny Blatchford, Anton Bradley, Danny Jordan, George Weller (2), Casey Bocarro (1). Substitutes: Alex Sethi, Fred Tripp (both came on). Adam Parsons, Nigel Miller (both did not come on). Man of the Match: Adam Davis
