PTGFC vs Chinnor 2:1

We are in the next round of the Wycombe Senior Cup and that is all what matters. It was a flat game somehow, never really got going. Maybe it was the early 13:30 kick off, maybe it was the mild weather. Anyhow the game kicked off and from minute one the home team appeared to be in charge, despite giving away a free kick in a dangerous position early on. Luckily it came to nothing.

After that the pattern of today’s game kicked in, we created the chances but just did not convert them into goals and their keeper played an absolute blinder. Although we did score a good goal in 15 minute after Aaron Couch converted a beautiful Casey Bocarro cross, the remainder of the half was a story of good saves and missed opportunities. As stated above the game never really got going and this pattern continued in the second half. What happens when you do not take your opportunities? The opposition is still in the game and sure enough, they scored a good goal in 77 minute to level the score. Dreaded penalties? Luckily not because Aaron Couch got his brace when he tucked the ball into the net from close range after a good move down the right flank in 85 That was enough to see the game out. Our goal was achieved, we are in the next round. It shows the character of the current squad, seeing games like this home. A big thank you also to referee Daryl Ridgley who kindly stepped in to officiate the game on short notice. This was much appreciated. It was also nice to see our former player Adrian Smith back at the club. Next week we are away in the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup against Risborough Rangers, kick off 15:00.
